PORTSMOUTH STREET ART PROJECT
I’m an artist at heart and love creativity of all kinds, and graffiti murals have always fascinated me.
The City of Portsmouth, OH, is known for their beautiful floodwall murals depicting local history (check it out when you have a chance to road trip!). When I found out that a group of graffiti artists had formed a non-profit organization and was working WITH Portsmouth city officials to ensure there were legal spaces to create their art, I just had to help.
My time as a volunteer with the Portsmouth Street Art Project involved social media management, photography, and copywriting. I also served as a consult for the organization’s leaders so they could “take the reigns” of their own platform and run with it.
My largest accomplishment was gaining enough exposure online for the organization that they received media exposure, donations of space and money from local businesses, and substantial grant money from the Ohio Arts Council. They now host their own graffiti festival and attract many new visitors and artists to the Portsmouth area. I’d call that a win for creativity!

Successfully ran PSAP's first online merchandise sale, raising thousands of dollars for a local animal shelter in two weeks.

Drove campaigns to educate the community on the art of graffiti and ways to get involved.

Overall, had a blast with the Portsmouth Street Art Project, and I'm enjoying watching them flourish and attract visitors to the area.
